Let's rock!
I have been playing guitar since late high school. I play for fun; I am not a professional musician, and I have never attended any music school or received professional lessons. I'm a self-taught learner from a guitar book I purchased back in high school.
My first guitar was an electric guitar - a copy of a BC Rich Warlock. Later traded for an Ibanez RG370. However, I somehow became an Fender Stratocaster lover. Currently, I own seven Stratocasters. Among other things, I have an electric-acoustic guitar too.
Guitar amplifiers and other electronics
Unusually, I do not own any commercially available amplifier. Having a background in electronics, it was obvious to me to build my own guitar amps. Over the years, I have experimented with various technologies and approaches. Eventually, I ended up using op-amps as the main active element, rather than single transistors.
It is a two-channel amplifier; clean/crunch channel and distortion channel. Both channels are modeled after Fender Twin Reverb and Marshall JMP-1.
Apart from amplifiers, I also build other stuff like stomp boxes (guitar effects). However, that does not necessarily mean that I do not sometimes own/buy a guitar effect. I have a small range of BOSS effects. They are great, and I see no point in building copies.
Playing
